Francisco Ferenczi

Bom Dia!

Francisco Ferenczi, sculptor, painter and language specialist, was born on July 1, 1951 in Rio de Janeiro. His parents emigrated from Hungary to Brazil in 1950, where Ferenczi received his education and his introduction to art studies.

He was schooled as a Mechanical and Industrial Engineer; shaped for a career that evolved into a position as Nuclear Engineer Project Manager, overseeing quality assurance projects. In 1980, Ferenczi felt pulled to continue his Art studies. He attended Parque Lage Escola de Artes Visuais in Rio de Janeiro, where he received his introduction to Sculpture, Bronze Techniques, Visual Presentation and Painting.

In 1981, he chose to leave his career as a Nuclear Engineer  to pursue this creative life path; a path that began with his 1978 Fine Arts degree in Art History, Ceramic Techniques, and Sculpture from Freistadt Universitaet in Erlangen, Germany.

From 1981 to 1984, as Founder and Principal of Ferenczi Home Development Company, he designed and built up-scale ocean-front homes in Serjipe, Brazil, while continuing his art education. From 1985 to 1991, Ferenczi operated his signature art gallery, Espaco e Ideia, in Rio de Janeiro.

Proficient in seven languages, Ferenczi was hired as a language instructor and consultant in Rio de Janeiro, working with executives of Embratel, S.A., Petrobras, S.A. and General Motors until 1998.

In the United States, as an Official Portuguese Translator and Interpreter at an International level, he was a member of the Project Team at the United Nations Headquarters from 2002 to 2011. His work centered on the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, and the years devoted to this project helped shape his artistic view of the indigenous population, which is reflected in his artwork.

With language skills that include English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, Hungarian and German, Ferenczi continues to work with a variety of North American clients, in the pursuit of his artistic career.
